Godwin Pumps Wins Mining Magazine 2004 Global Award
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA Bridgeport, NJ-based Godwin Pumps, worldwide manufacturer of the Dri-Prime® automatic self-priming pump, was one of 16 technology suppliers to the mining industry to receive the first global Mining Awards presented by the international management monthly, Mining Magazine, at MINExpo in Las Vegas, Nevada today.
Winner in the Surface Mining Award category for its Dri-Prime pumps, Godwin Pumps was nominated by Mr. Bruce Gassler, Quarry Superintendent, Buzzi Unicem, USA, Mid-Atlantic Region located in Stockertown, PA (formerly Hercules Cement).
Godwin's Dri-Prime automatic self-priming pumps are known around the world for all sorts of applications, particularly mine and quarry dewatering.
Used in temporary as well as permanent applications, the Dri-Prime features automatic self-priming to 28 feet (8.5 metres) of static suction, dry running capabilities due to an oil bath mechanical seal design, solids handling and high discharge heads. The Dri-Prime "HL Series" units are high head pumps particularly suited to mining applications. The latest models in this series the HL130M and HL160M offer extra high heads up to 600 feet (183 metres) and feature a single stage design, which means less maintenance.
Covering categories including Exploration, Mineral Processing, Software, Surface Mining, Underground Mining for hard rock and coal and a Mine Manager of the Year Award, the awards recognized the finest achievers in the mining industry by rewarding truly groundbreaking innovation and technology according to Mining Magazine editor, John Chadwick, who chaired the judging panel.
Our winners were chosen for innovation, benefits to efficiency, productivity and safety, ease of application and their potential contribution to best practice environmental management, said Chadwick.
The mining industry has many reasons to be proud of its achievements and these awards give us a chance to showcase the best of them.
The winners of the other Mining Magazine 2004 Awards are BHP Billiton, Boart Longyear, Snowden Technologies, Voest, Atlas, Hydramatic Engineering, Minova, Terex Mining, Xstrata Technology, CyPlus, Outokumpu, Bateman/Schade, and Siemens. The Mine Manager of the Year Award went to Mr Rich Heig, General Manager at Kennecott Minerals Cos Greens Creek mine.
