President John M. Paz Selected as NJ Biz Executive of the Year
LONG BRANCH, NJ John Michael Paz, President of Godwin Pumps, was selected recently as Executive of the Year by NJ Biz. Chosen by a panel of distinguished New Jersey business leaders, Paz accepted his award at the NJ Biz Business of the Year 2006 Awards ceremony on December 6 here.
Created to honor businesses and business leaders for their outstanding contributions to the New Jersey business community, the NJ Biz awards recognize an elite group...who have proven themselves as the shining stars of New Jersey.
The 2006 Business of the Year Judges included international business strategist Aldonna Ambler, NJN Executive Director Elizabeth Christopherson, Director of the U.S. Small Business Administrations New Jersey district office James Kocsi, Dean of the Rutgers University School of Business-Camden Dr. Mitchell P. Koza, and New Jersey Chamber of Commerce President Joan Verplanck.
Being recognized is a great honor, yet its even more significant when it comes from your home state, said Paz. We have always taken tremendous pride in being based in New Jersey, and have committed ourselves to being part of the community and an active corporate citizen.
Last year, Paz received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Ernst & Youngs Entrepreneur of the Year competition, and was inducted into the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.
A 1978 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA, Paz joined Godwin Pumps upon his graduation. He became President in 1985, and opened the first Godwin Pumps rental office in 1990.
Godwin makes and distributes industrial pumps used for municipal sewer bypass work and mine, quarry and construction site dewatering.
Today, Godwin Pumps maintains a fleet of more than 5,000 portable rental pumps and related accessories in 24 company-owned locations throughout the United States.
With home offices on two continents and distributor locations worldwide, Godwin employs more than 600 people around the world and has annual sales in excess of $165 million.
