Godwin Pumps and UK Distributor, SLD Pumps, Introduce New Electric Submersible Line At Hillhead

BUXTON, ENGLAND (21 June, 2005) – Godwin Pumps, manufacturer of portable rental pumps and fire pumps, in conjunction with its distributor SLD Pumps, UK pump rental and sales company, today unveiled a new line of Sub-Prime electric submersible pumps at the Hillhead Quarry Show, in SLD’s Stand Q8. The new Sub-Prime units, intended for mine and quarry dewatering and sludge removal, boast a slim-line design for fitting into confined spaces and offer high head, high volume or super volume models with single-phase motors to 2.2 kW (3 horsepower) and three-phase motors to 62 kW (83 horsepower).

“We are pleased to broaden our product offering for our customers with a new line of Godwin pumps perfectly suited to tough mining and quarrying applications,” said Geraldine Unsworth, U.K. Sales and Marketing Director, Longville-Group, parent company of SLD Pumps. “Our 35 year history of success with Godwin Dri-Prime pumps in the quarry and construction arena, positions us for being the leader in electric submersibles as well,” added Unsworth.

The Sub-Prime line first introduced by Godwin in 2001 exclusively in the North American market with 60 Hz models grew 250% in the first three years.

Godwin Pumps President John Michael Paz says, “Our North American customers wanted a Godwin brand of electric submersibles that offered the same superior quality they had come to expect from our Godwin Dri-Prime pump. Add the fact that we provide immediate availability and complete parts inventory, the new line was an immediate success. It was natural for us to expand the line to include 50 Hz models for worldwide distribution.”

The pumps feature a top discharge design, flow rates to 316 litres per second, (5,000 gallons per minute), discharge heads to 114 metres (375 feet), and solids handling up to 80mm (3.2 inches) in diameter.

In addition to high flow capacity and slim design, Sub-Prime electric submersible pumps also feature a chromium-alloy white cast iron impeller and heavy-duty rubber or polyurethane coated adjustable wearing parts for longer life.

Other features include double mechanical seals with silicon carbide interfaces for dry running and extra protection against leakage and dual phase on selected models for electrical supply flexibility.
