Godwin Pumps of America Acquires U.K.-Based Manufacturer
BRIDGEPORT, NEW JERSEY - Godwin Pumps of America, Inc. (GPA), the largest manufacturer and rental supplier of portable pumping systems in North and South America, announced today its acquisition of Godwin Pumps Limited (GPL), Quenington, England.
The combined companies will have sales in excess of $100 million.
John Michael Paz, who assumed the role of GPA president in 1985, will remain as president. Michael Stone, managing director of GPL, will continue in that position, as will the other directors of GPL. Both companies are privately held.
According to Paz, the excitement of merging these two companies is shared by both parties. GPA has been GPL's major client over the past five years. Combining the manufacturing expertise of GPL - which has been designing and building portable pumps for over 100 years - with the rental, sales and marketing prowess of GPA, should surge the growth of the new entity.
"The long term relationship of our two companies has now blossomed together to form a synergy of talents that will continue to make the Godwin Dri-Prime the leader in portable diesel driven pumps," stated President Paz. "We are poised for explosive growth not only in the United States, but also around the world. From the seedling in 1976 of Godwin Pumps of America to accomplishing this merger, it is a dream come true for myself as well as for the employees of both companies. Being able to grow our business through our core expertise is within our corporate philosophy of 'Sticking to the Knitting."
